AnimeExpo 2008 news

The first day of Anime Expo 2008 ended with the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation Chief Executive Officer Ms. Trulee Karahashi announcing the winners of the fan voted SPJA Awards at the Wachovia VIP Lounge at the Nokia Theatre Live.

FUNimation Entertainment’s own Laura Bailey won the award for Best Voice Actress (English) for her role as Shin in the animated comedy Shin chan.

While our beloved Mokona from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles was named Best Mascot Character.

Curtis Shaw, FUNimation Entertainment Brand Manager, who worked directly on the Tsubasa series said: “What can we say about Mokona? Mokona is Mokona. We are so excited that Mokona was chosen as ‘Best Mascot Character’ and it couldn’t have gone to a nicer… ah… Mokona. Mokona is brave, caring, loyal and funny as hell. And the range of emotion that Carrie Savage brings to Mokona just makes the character that much more lovable and endearing. From myself and Carrie Savage, thank you.”
