AX 2010 – Day 2: TOKYOPOP Panel

If you’re attending this year’s convention then you know that TOKYOPOP wants its presence known with the huge tour bus they have parked outside the southside of the convention center. You see, TOKYOPOP is currently searching for America’s Greatest Otaku and – with eight contestants – they are touring various cities spreading their love of anime and manga all over the USA. God bless these kids.

During the panel, we learned that a few original TOKYOPOP manga titles that have been held back when the company concentrated on their biggest sellers are now available via Zinio ( On top of that, OverDrive ( allows you to download TOKYOPOP titles like a digital lending public library.

TOKYOPOP has come out strong with this panel and their commendable mission to get everyone into manga and anime via their TOKYOPOP Tour and America’s Greatest Otaku contest is impressive. However, it is the lineup of their continuing and new titles that are coming up this year and the next that will keep fans and manga readers happy.
